چکیده

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) over Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) is an important application of WLANs and it has gained more and more attention recently. In this article, we analyse the maximum number of VoIP calls supportable in a WLAN and propose a new call admission control strategy, namely, Adaptive Transmission Interval Call Admission Control (ATICAC) to enhance VoIP calls in 802.11 WLANs. In ATICAC strategy, Base Station adaptively changes transmission interval of the active stations to prevent the network from saturation by controlling the average collision probability of the network. The proposed model gives a very good agreement with our simulation results. ATICAC can not only ensure the Quality of Service (QoS) of VoIP calls in 802.11 WLANs in the network, but also increase the number of VoIP calls in the network.

A Scheme for Supporting Voice over IEEE 802.11 Wireless Local Area Network

Along with the widespread use of the Internet has come a considerable increase in the variety of applications being tried out, one of the most promising of which is packet telephony. Meanwhile, with the spread of the wireless local area network (WLAN) environment, there is growing demand for support for real-time traffic over WLAN. In this paper, we propose a modified MAC protocol that supports...

SIMA : The Service Integration Multiple Access Protocol to Integrate Voice and Data in WLANs

IEEE 802.11 called service integration multiple access (SIMA) is proposed in this paper. SIMA is designed to support voice and data transmissions over wireless local area networks (WLANs). Since both voice and data traffics have different characteristics and service requirements, we use a hybrid scheme between time division multiple access (TDMA) which is suitable for constant-bit-rate (CBR) vo...

A Hidden Node Aware Network Allocation Vector Management System for Multi-hop Wireless Ad hoc Networks

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...
